A chip management and fire suppression system is an integrated equipment package for safe handling of titanium machining waste. Titanium chips and swarf are pyrophoric — when fine, dry, or in powder form, they can self-ignite and burn at extremely high temperatures that cannot be extinguished with water or CO₂.
