What is Grade 9 Titanium (Ti-3Al-2.5V)?

Grade 9 Ti-3Al-2.5V can be processed using the following manufacturing techniques:

Cold forming — Excellent; can be bent into tight radii without cracking
Tube bending — Rotary draw bending, press bending, and roll bending all applicable
CNC machining — Good; easier to machine than Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V)
TIG welding — Good; requires matching filler metal and inert gas shielding
Laser welding — Acceptable for thin-wall tubing
Orbital TIG welding — Standard method for tube butt joints
Hydroforming — Excellent formability for complex tube shapes
Annealing — At 700–790°C (1,290–1,450°F) followed by air cooling
